Producing forest seedlings involves a series of critical steps, from preparing the greenhouse to caring for the plants post-sowing. This process is exemplified at the Pepiniera Dosul Pribeagului, part of the Ocolul Silvic Lupeni, under the Direcția Silvică Hunedoara.
Representatives from the Regia Națională a Pădurilor-Romsilva recently demonstrated the various stages involved in setting up a greenhouse specifically for growing spruce seedlings.
The greenhouse at Pepiniera Dosul Pribeagului spans an area of 60 square meters, dedicated to the cultivation of spruce seedlings.
The initial phase included repairing and preparing the greenhouse structure, followed by the installation of protective film. Subsequently, the cultivation beds were leveled and the soil prepared for sowing.
After marking the rows, spruce seeds were sown, and the cultivation beds were watered and tended to, ensuring optimal germination conditions.
Initial results have already been observed, with seeds germinating and forming a lush green carpet of seedlings within the greenhouse.
The process continues with careful management of the seedlings, allowing them to grow under suitable conditions before being planted in the forest.
